Meeting of the Secretariat with the priests representing the dioceses 2025
Cairo, May 27, 2025 – The Secretariat of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II for Social welfare convened a meeting with delegate priests representing the dioceses of Egypt. The assembly was attended by 55 priests, with one representative from each diocese.
The meeting commenced with an address by Fr. Bishoy Charles, Secretary of His Holiness for Social welfare, who extended a warm welcome to the attending clergy, outlined the agenda, and facilitated discussions on key topics to enhance service coordination.
Unified Social Care Database Update
The first major agenda item addressed updates to the Unified Social Care Database. Eng. Magdy El-Sharkawy, Technical Director of the Secretariat, presented significant improvements to the system, including improved system accessibility with advanced login features, expanded reporting capabilities for better data tracking and the critical need for timely updates to family records and documentation of aid distribution to ensure accurate service reporting.
Progress Report on Bent El-Malak (Daughter of the King) Program
Following the database presentation, the meeting turned its attention to the Bent El-Malak (Daughter of the King) program. Program coordinators George Samir and Mary Attia provided a detailed progress report, highlighting two key action items: First, the need to verify beneficiary lists for those aged 18 and above across all dioceses, with particular attention to confirming marital status and ensuring proper disbursement of entitled funds. Second, they stressed the mandatory registration of all beneficiaries with Nasser Bank accounts into the unified database to facilitate seamless financial support.
One Body Service Initiative
Then Fr. Bishoy Charles highlighted the success of the One Body Service, a collaborative effort by churches in New Cairo, Zeiton, Nasr City, New Cities, and other partners from not-for-profit organizations.
Since its launch during Resurrection Sunday 2024, the initiative has expanded significantly, achieving 100% coverage of registered families by Resurrection Sunday 2025 through the distribution of blessing bags.
Looking to the future, Plans were announced to extend the program to include the Feast of the Virgin Mary 2025, with the goal of tripling annual distributions to three major occasions.
Closing Remarks
In his concluding remarks, Fr. Bishoy expressed profound gratitude to the clergy for their dedicated service and underscored the value of such collaborative meetings in fostering knowledge exchange and operational synergy.
The gathering concluded on a note of shared commitment to advancing the Church’s social welfare mission.
