Daughter of the King
The Daughter of the King Program focuses on providing financial support to girls by establishing savings accounts for them under the church’s supervision from a young age, enabling them to start saving early and have a sufficient amount to help with marriage expenses. This support enhances their value, security, and freedom in choosing the right life partner.
Program Start
Protocol King the of Daughter
A protocol was established between the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Ministry
of Social Solidarity, represented by the Nasser Social Bank, in May 2020.
- It stipulates an increase of 1⁄2% above the existing interest rates in banks.
- In 2021, we focused on those born in 2003 and 2004, allocating 4000 Egyptian
pounds for each girl. - In 2022, we focused on those born in 2005, allocating 4000 Egyptian pounds for
each girl. - Starting from 1/1/2023, books were opened for girls born in 2006 and funded with
4000 Egyptian pounds. - For those born in 2007-2008-2009, books were funded with 2000 Egyptian
pounds, with the condition of church or diocese contribution to enable an
increase in book funding in 2024. - For those born in 2010-2011-2012, books were funded with 1000 Egyptian
pounds, with the condition of church or diocese contribution to enable an
increase in book funding in 2024. - A donation account for this program was opened at the Commercial International
Bank (CIB) and the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
These savings books are continuously funded by encouraging families, the community,
and the church to donate, even in small amounts, to increase their value when needed.
No one has the right to withdraw funds from the savings book except the responsible
priest, under the church’s reservation and engagement contract.
Program Implementation
- Registering the entire family on the database.
- Communicating with the Social Care Secretariat to inform them of the
registration. - Opening savings books for girls after review with the Secretariat at Nasser Social
Bank (including girls’ names, birth certificates, and authorization from the
bishop). - Sending the book numbers to the Social Care Secretariat to transfer the amount
to the girls’ accounts. - The church ensures the funds are received, monitors the interest, and sends a
periodic report to the Social Care Secretariat (encouraged by the papal
headquarters to double the deposit amounts if the church deposits any funds). - Informing the girl that she has a savings book to benefit from upon her marriage
(marriage certificate). The priest withdraws the amount from the book and hands
it to the girl before marriage, and later returns the book for her personal use.
